Gabriel Ferrier (1847-1914), “Moonlit Dreams”
A French academic painter whose style at times seemed to go delightfully over-the-top into a joyous kitschiness.
His masters were Pills, Lecoq, de Boisbaudran and Hebert. He is a painter with a real talent. His works are very charming and translate serenity. He exhibited in 1869 at the “Salon de Paris”. In 1872 he was awarded with the “Prix de Rome”, in 1876 he obtained the second medal, in 1878, the first one, in 1889 during the Universal Exhibition, he received a gold medal and in 1903 an honour medal.
Officer of the “Legion d’Honneur”, he was a Member of the Institute of France and professor in the “Beaux-Art” School.
